our forum rules.

general.

one. This site is recommended for users of at least sixteen (16) years of age. Rayven's Reign is generally aimed towards a more mature audience. Our content may contain, but is not limited to: adult language, adult situations, violence, suggestive themes, and gore.
two. Chat speak is forbidden in roleplay; most browsers these days come equipped with a spell-check function and we have one implemented on our site. Please use it. We strive to make ourselves better writers and leet speak only holds us back from that.
three. Out of character racism, homophobia, sexism, harassment, ect. will result in an instant ban.
four. Legitimately existing and realistic species are accepted; nonsensical species (i.e. vampire chickens) are not.
five. Pending character applications and WIPs go in the Pending Character Applications board for approval before you can play as that character. A staff member should promptly reply to your application within a day or so. During this time, feel free to chat with us in our c-box and browse around.
six. The mature boards contain explicit sexual content ('fade to black' scenes are permissible in normal boards) and drug-related paraphernalia. Everything else (intense gore, violence, strong language, ect.) is allowed commonly around the site.
seven. Keep in mind that everyone here is in it for the fun. While we are a supportive and friendly bunch of peoples, common courtesy is an absolute requirement here. Be a rude asshole and you're going to get the boot. Fight with staff, you'll get the boot. Harass/badger people, boot. General bad attitude/unpleasantness that makes me or others not even want to get online, boot. Getting the picture?
common sense.

eight. Talk to your thread partner(s) if you wanna godmode or powerplay. Metagaming is looked down upon generally, but again, it's up to you and your thread partner(s). For clarification, here are the definitions of these three terms:
- Godmodding - Controlling other people's characters.
- Powerplaying - Changing in game rules to further your character, or to keep them from being hurt and to help them come out on the top of every situation.
- Metagaming - Using out-of-character knowledge to affect your in-character writing.
nine. "Mary-Sue" and "Gary-Sue" characters are boring to play as and play with; if you've already been using one, it might be a good time to start moving away from the 'perfect character' and into a more realistic, dynamic character with faults and issues that clearly affect them negatively. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how much fun it can be. To prevent these "Sues", we require characters to have major, noticeable flaws that truly affect the character; the character's strengths and weaknesses should also be balanced out.
ten. You have to be at least sixteen (16) to acces any password protected boards.
eleven. We have no word count for threads. The character template has a very modest word requirement, but it's easily attainable for even beginning roleplayers.
twelve. Avatars, signatures and playby images cannot contain or promote drugs, pornography, racism/homophobia/ect.
However, artistic nudity is allowed as long as the thread or character app is appropriately marked to contain it. For more information about our policy regarding artistic nudity, contact a staff member.
thirteen. We don't do activity checks. We do occasionally scrap old, unused accounts though. If you haven't logged into your account in a year and a half, two years then it's likely your account has been tossed. But not to fear! Getting back your things is as easy as re-registering with the same name. It is nice for you to post in the 'Absent' board if you know you're going away for a while; common courtesy to any players you're currently threading with.
fourteen. We don't swing the banhammer often, but we aren't afraid to do it either. If you disrupt our community in a negative way, well, the needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few. You'll be banned without a shred of remorse. Spamming, misusing the c-box, rude/passive-aggressive behavior, general rule-breaking, hate-speech, harassment and falsifying your age are just a few quick ways to get the notorious 'instant ban' slammed in your face.
fifteen. Avatar sizes can't exceed 200 by 300 pixels. Don't worry about resizing, though. We've got you covered there; our site automatically resizes images to fit our requirements. Signatures shouldn't stretch our boards and shouldn't be longer than 500 pixels.

sixteen. Please use some
basic courtesy when using the c-box.
seventeen. Complaints go in our suggestion/help boards or directly to staff. Keep them out of the c-box.
eighteen. It's a means to quickly chat with everyone; if it's being dominated by a pair or small group where no one else can get satisfactory use of it, the dominating group will be politely asked to move their conversation to either PM or a private IM.
nineteen. Light-hearted debates, plotting, chatting, ect. are fine for the c-box. Serious debates, trolling, harassing, ect. does not. Use your common sense to judge what does and probably doesn't belong on the c-box, or you could end up with a temporary suspension (or even a permanent ban) from the c-box.
twenty. Generally, don't be a jerk. Rudeness can also result in a temporary suspension/ban from the c-box. If you don't have something nice, constructive or chatty to post, don't post it in the c-box.

We encourage you to ask us any questions and hang around to get a feel of use before registering. Before registering, we would strongly advise you read our
Newbie Guide.
Do you find yourself not understanding something? Need help with something? Have a suggestion to make our site better? If there aren't any staff online to answer your questions via the c-box, check our "
F.A.Q." first. If your answer isn't there, see our "Help" and "Question & Suggestion" boards, respectively. They are both guest friendly.
