The smell of those blasted creatures snarled at her, her eyes deep red and her lips caught in a demonic smirk, catching the sight of her pray below. Their swords harshly gleamed silver, dangling from their hips. Their tasty bodies wrapped in leather and dark brown cloaks that symbolised soldiers – fighters. But Cleed could easily catch, at the very least, one for her feast.

Bare feet crouched on the bark of a tree branch, golden wings, broken from her nymph side's rage, slithering down her bare back, covered in age old scars. Rich red hair ruffled up with crunching leaves and stabbing branches. Her body, clothed in amber and green cloth, cowered over the group, each of their footsteps haunting louder and louder in Cleed's ears, the murdering crunches of their feet on the dying leaves below.

Cleed sneered, liking her lips, and balancing herself on the branch, she pounced, tumbling to the ground before launching herself to one of the soldiers.

Bellowing voices of fear revved her up, as she snarled, hungrily, ready to steal their energy.

“You're all so... tough,” Cleed's succubus voice smirked through, red hair tumbling over her deeper red, demonic eyes. “All the more energy, the better.”

Crawling forward, she bit her lip, seductively, shrugging, “What? Don't you want it?” She mocked a thoughtful expression before her attempt at an impression of her nymph counterpart's innocence leaked through. “But I thought nymph's were so beautiful that men couldn't keep their hands off them.”

Snarling under her breath, she grinned, before one of the soldiers cried out, “You're no nymph!”

“Oh,” Cleed replied, acting surprised. “Well, I suppose you're only half right. But how I wish you weren't.” Her voice raised in seductive rage before pouncing towards her first victim. She hadn't noticed then the drawing of one of the men's swords until he had launched forward, swinging for her violently, missing major damage but her leg scarred in a deep graze.

Cleed let out a bellowed screech, the soldiers soon running away out of sight. Her eyes flickered amber as her nymph side fought through, her sense of smell breaking in the process. Limping away, succubus fighting through her nymph barrier, Cleed sneered at the air, before searching for water to wash her wound.

Deep in the forest, far from his home- a hut which lies on the river bank, t'was a Viking. Not a typical brutish Viking, though. He seemed it though, after all. With a high meaty diet and the occasional fruit and vegetables he steals from a farm, several miles North and even from the old village of Vithi Gothi which now lies in ruins from dastardly wars and raids of near by enemies.

The Viking, to many, would look like a simple Germanian archer, his shirt off, from the heat, only in light leather leggings, and no shoes. His head sweating- A Norse not use to such heat. His bow in his hand and just incase he had his sword and shield with him. Just incase of bandits. 'Hah! Bandits. Annoying buggers,' He though to himself whenever their thought crossed his mind. He was disgusted with them after being attacked numerous times by rebels hidden in the forests, waiting for a trade caravan to pass by. The occasional time he was attacked by a small war band of Celts or Saxons which increased his utter lack of fondness towards Celts. Saxons he figured looked the same as Celts at times, except for the mention of Odin or Thor.

His skills lead him the to trail of a deer, with it's hooves tracking across the muddy ground of the Dark Forest. It's moister and humidity dampening the air and the plants, making it ever so slightly more easier to hunt down his prey. The grass didn't rustle, due to it's soaked state, making it easier to lay now sound for the deer to hear.

The young Viking saw the deer he was hunting in the distance. An arrow between his fingers his bow, ready and aiming, he knocked the arrow to the string of the bow, making as little sound as possible. Drawing the arrow back, he aimed down the arrow, making sure it was full of precision. Thought time felt as if it stopped in the moment, wind blowing as he knelt down, aiming at his prey of the month.

Aiming, yet staying low at the same time, his breathing slowed down, his heart beat and blood pressure calming, as he was about to release the arrow deep into the deer's heart.

A deafening scream rose about from a distance. One scaring the deer off- His final chance at getting food to last the remainder of the month. Standing up, he released the arrow as the deer ran off in the opposite direction. The arrow pierced into the deer's neck, killing it instantly. He watched as the deer seemed to of tripped over, spinning as it's body came to a complete stop. "Ha!" He said, getting up, as he went to retrieve his kill.

Looking down at his kill, the first of the season of Summer. The first to stain this forest of it's blood from a job well-done. Taking the arrow from the deer, he lifted it up over his shoulders and went back to his hut at the edge of the riverbank.

The pain in her leg was beginning to throb as blood stained her skin, limping in search of any sort of water source. Cleed's eyes were losing their demonic heat as they slowly grew back to amber. Her heart had calmed back to her nymph state and her voice dried into whimpers, holding in the screams for the sake of her pain.

She caught a glimpse of a river ahead, water rippling fast over shallow rocks, pouring a little trail through the darkening trees. Sighing with relief, thinking that she'd known this forest as well by now to remember where each water source was. Obviously, that wasn't the case.

Cleed's skin glowed with a tint of golden, as she crawled desperately towards to river, diving her fingers into the cool water and dripping it over her cut. She flinched as the water hit her wound, yet her hands couldn't help but let the water escape through her fingers before most of it even reached her grazed leg.

She only realised then that someone had taken residence there, beside the river. A camp fire frizzled slowly, sending the smell of burning smoke into the claustrophobic forest. All Cleed really didn't need right now was to simmer back into succubus desires, and, if anyone was nearby, she hoped that the smell of the smoke would disguise any human, male smell from converting her nymph state back to demonic.

Heavy footsteps paved their way in the direction of the camp, and Cleed glanced around, nervous and anxious, trying to find somewhere to hide, knowing full well she wouldn't be able to run very fast with this leg.

Clambering up behind a thick, nearby tree, her bat-like, yellow wings broken and limping against the bark as she hoped that the golden glow of her skin wasn't obvious to the owner of those footsteps once they had arrived.

The young viking walked with his kill on his back. The deer lifelessly hung over his shoulders. Coming back to his hut and camp fire was a relief of a sight. Finally having some meat for the next few weeks. Entering his small hut he built over time, he opened a door leading down into what seems to be a cellar. Hanging the deer up to drain, he climbed back up to chop more wood for the fire, for him to cook some venison for the evening dinner to come.

The river trickled down as Jaocim caught some in a bucket for drinking water. He was busy as always- It was difficult living on his own, in the deep of a forest. Setting his sword and shield to the side, he grabbed his mighty battle axe- a one sided axe that was just as tall as was, almost like a halberd.

Starting to cut some logs from a tree he'd chopped down earlier, he gathered them in one simple area near the fire, before heading off to gather some trigs and bark as fire starters. Creating a pile for the firewood, he walked back inside his hut, preparing vegetables for a nice hearty stew for the evening.

What else could a Viking ask for besides stew except for a nice jug of cold beer?

Looking up to see a figure in the distance, he quickly worried himself thinking it was another bandit. He grabbed his bow and an arrow, drew the arrow and aimed towards the figure in the distance, ready to fire at if should it decide to charge at him.

The footsteps grew louder as Cleed pressed her back against the bark of the tree as much as possible, trying to keep her heavy breathing as quiet as she could so she could listen to what was happening around her.

Cleed's leg was hurting painfully now, the little water that had reached it stinging. She glanced down to see that her blood had rippled over, slowly crawling down her leg. Flinching, she kept her voice low, not wanting whoever was across the river to notice her.

A loud crack of an ax against a log of wood broke through the lifeless trees, birds quickly flying away at the outburst of noise. For as long as someone had lived in the Dark Forest, the birds could go unnoticed for a lifetime for they never singed. The darkness of such a place forced the beauty of a bird's voice out, almost like it had with her. Yet she had been born like this - an outcast, a hybrid of good and evil. She had named the Dark Forests as the home of such as herself - a throw away.

Cleed clenched her forehead, not wanting to think about how her dull nymph brother had scorned her, and all the others had abandoned her to look after herself from such a young age. She'd always suspected that they were hoping she would die, not being able to cope on her own.

The breeze decided to creep in then, especially attacking her open wound forcing a painful whimper to crush from Cleed's lips. She had hoped that, because of the injury she had, her succubus side would be too distracted to come out and decide to attack anyone who passed. The distant smell of male human was hinted in the air, though, her eyes gradually heating up to red once again. Fighting away the demonic desires, she stabled her eyes back to a bubbling amber.

Cleed then heard the drawing of an arrow, a bow pulling and aiming and she clenched her teeth, swearing under her breath.

Her cover was blown.

Instead of being sensible and keeping her stance, she glanced round the trunk, her fingers finding holding in the ridges of the bark. Looking around, she could see the human, a young man, a bow and arrow in his hands, aiming straight for her.

Jumping, Cleed blurted out a croaking, "Don't shoot!" before folding back around the tree, slapping herself for being so irrational. If she got closer to the human, for all she knew, her succubus could pounce and drain all his energy. Then again, he did have that weapon of his, that could easily pierce her heart.

A women peered around the tree, her skin somehow shining of gold, her eyes, slightly reddening. He was still trying to see whether or not she was hostile. Although, something else caught his hunter's eye behind the woman.

His aim was as true as his shot. His eye looking down the shaft of the arrow, he turned his shot a bit to the side of the woman and fired. Behind the woman was a wolf. A lone wolf who had his eyes set on attacking her and the camp. The arrow pierced the the air, barely missing the woman's head, as it past and hit the wolf between the eyes, before it had even the remote chance of attacking.

Quickly, he grabbed his sword and shield and waited, his shield in front of him, just incase she decides to make a move at him. He knelt over, covering most of his body behind his shield, his sword out the side of the shield, like he would a spear. He was cautious, not trusting anyone. After all, he was once attacked by head hunter maidens who claimed to be after his head for the wanted price of a thousand gold coins.

No way was a maiden going to try and pull a fast one. His current position was taught for if there was going to be a cloud of arrows raining down upon him anytime soon, although it also worked in a one on one battle. He knows this for a fact.

Moving slowly in to the door way of his hut, expecting her to have back up somewhere. He head his shield, tightly in front of him, gripping his sword. "Who are you?" He asked, in assurance, "still ready for if she attacks." He peered over his large round shield, still crouching under the safety of his sword and shield.

The air stood still at that point, Jaocim assuming every scenario he would as he did as a commander and left room for mistakes. Although he kept his eyes on her as he thought every single scenario except for what if she doesn't attack.

An arrow flew past Cleed's head, the sheer force of it flying through the air piercing her hearing. She jumped, stumbling back and falling onto the ground just past the tree she had been hiding behind. Her leg snapped in pain as she landed, causing her to cry out, wincing.

Cleed noticed then that the man hadn't been aiming for her but, when hearing the sound of an animal collapsing, she glanced around to see a wolf, pierced in the head by an arrow, broken on the ground.

Sighing, she watched the human clamber with his shield and sword before calling out, "Who are you?"

What was she supposed to say to that? That she was a destroyed creature, demonic in her wings, peaceful in her skin, both in her eyes? That she could attack him at any moment, yet be fearful of him at the same time?

Not finding anything suitable, she called back, her voice broken, "I- I don't want to hurt you. I just cut my leg."

It was true - she wasn't exactly sure it was a good idea to include that actually her leg had been wounded by a soldier's sword because she was attacking them for sexual energy, and so she left that detail out.

"I was just getting water to clean it," she whimpered, flinching at the pain again and biting her lip until she'd made indents of her teeth there. Scared to fully reveal herself in case he judged, and worried that her demonic side would smell him and pounce, and so she stayed back, watching him carefully, her eyes darting around.

He nodded, saying, "Go ahead, but any sudden movement and-' He ran his index across his neck, symbolizing the words for "You're dead".

He stood up, lowering his sword and shield before going into his cellar to get some venison for a nice venison soup. In the cellar he found some bandages he took from Vithi Gothi.

Some time ago, just recently or two days ago, on a trek to see what's what back there or if he's even welcome back to his home. His home, he found was a wreck. A ghost town and everyone in it was dead. Although, it appears his siblings made it out, for he found not where his siblings went, although there was weapons and dead soldiers every where, and the trail of soldiers leading off into the Dark Forest itself. He decided not to trail them, instead he looted some supplies before heading back to his home in the Dark Forest.

Climbing back out from the cellar, he took the bandages and attached them to an arrow. Nocking the arrow to the string of his bow, he shot across, hitting the tree beside the small framed female who was looking to use the water to clean her wound.

"Go to Vithi Gothi and there's tons of that stuff," He advised before skinning the leg of his hunt, ready to eat in a nice soup. He had an almost cauldron type thing hanging over the fire, kept warm, for when he needed something cooking or boiling. From there, he placed the drinking water he got from the river into the cauldron along with some veggies and his deer's leg. The delicious smell of venison soup itched his nose, as he was just starting to get hungry

Tomorrow would mark a second trip up to Vithi Gothi for some building supplies and digging supplies. He figured he could make a small get away tunnel under his hut just in case, but that would never happen... Too stubborn to retreat from any fight he doesn't think he can't win.

He already mapped it out, the trees, forest, the river and everything, so making an underground tunnel wouldn't be too difficult of job. Very good for ambushes as well, this tunnel, or hunting. But then again... That'd take all the fun out it, wouldn't it?

The arrow crashed into the tree beside her, splintering the bark with it's sharp point. On the end on the arrow itself pierced a roll of bandages. Cleed slowly drew forward towards the beast of weapon, pulling it out with the muscles in her forearm before cautiously ripping the bandages from the spike.

The bandages didn't look suspicious, nor did the arrow, and so her voice croaked out, "Thank you," to the man, despite the fact he had threatened her death if she lunged for him.

It was hard being what she was, a creature, despised by all as an un-pure hybrid. Still, Cleed really needed to clean her wound before it became infected.

Averting her gaze from the man, trying her best to numb her succubus senses, she crept forward, from behind a tree, her leg painfully throbbing as she moved. Sliding herself to the side of the river, her broken, bat-like, evil wings now clearly on show. Deciding to take off a small piece of cloth from her clothing, she dipped it into the water, letting it soak up before gently dabbing it against her injured leg. The water stung inside the cut but Cleed kept her pain from ripping through her throat. She cleaned up the dribbling blood, rinsing out the cloth back into the river, the red seeping out into the water.

Cleed gently took the bandages and wrapped them tightly around her wound, tying the knot before she smelled the scent of cooking meat. It was covering up the human's smell, yet Cleed never liked to eat animals. She was part nymph after all, meant to protect the forest and all it's creatures - she had settled on living off the cold blood of insects - yet, rather than protecting, Cleed could tell that she was born for destroying the forest, for, wasn't it true that, as one became closer to light, the shadows only become bigger.

He sat on a log, turned bench, stirring the soup he made from the animal he hunted down earlier today. He looked over at the woman, with her relieved demonic wings. His cautiousness over her grew. Realizing that insects might get to the food before she's done cleaning her wound, he stood up, and asked her if he could retrieve the wolf from behind her and put it in his cellar for next month.

Slowly, his shield in front of him, he waded across the river, his shield, being good for bashing s upfront just in case she lashed out at him. He moved cautiously through the water, as he circled around her. Moving back up on land, he found the dead wolf, its carcass, motionless.

Picking it up, by it's hide, he lifted it up over his shoulders. Feeling the fur on his back, he figured this wolf would make a good winter coat as well as a nice meal. He waded back across the river. As soon as he got to the other side, he went back into his hut. Opening the trap door to his cellar, he hung the wolf up to drain the blood before storing it away.

His two prizes of the day- venison and wolf meat. He's fed for the next several weeks. He realized, soon he needs to head back to Vithi Gothi for more supplies- maybe even a spear. Spears are useful in case he is under attack and is defending. Figures, as soon as this girl gets on her way and he stores his venison soup, he'll make a trip up to Vithi Gothi for some more supplies.

Once was his home is now just ruins that'll be turned into a monument of Viking history, and before Viking history, was once a Germanian city.

Doesn't matter to him. He can now visit his ex-lover's grave and pay his respects without getting hanged or shot at or put to the sword in the Vithi Gothi arena, which he had once fought in, once found guilty. He killed every opponent he had to face, so he was exiled. They hope that nature would kill him instead. Ha!
