Merlin...yes that is what they call me...I'd forgotten, spellhold does that to you, though the visions haven't stopped nor have the nightmares, why Camelot continues to haunt me I don't know.

Yes Merlin Hawke... that is it, the mortal form before the rebirth...and worse the return of Morgan...

I'll see if I can't piece this together, maybe I'll find the answers I am looking for, or merely create more questions...

As I recall Brianna and I came to this house owned by one Rayven, some call her the Damned, especially the Unseelie Court...yes...I am the custodian or Champion of the Unseelie Court, or to some Arch Druid of Avalon...but most know me as King Arthur's "wizard". When I find the bastard that started that rumor...I will gut him.

I sit here in what I am told were my chambers before I entered Spellhold. That hole I remember is still in the floor above, and I was granted an Iron Maiden...but there's something else...

Names of people who know me they are familiar, but I am drawing a blank. Have to think...what am I saying I've had nothing but time to think...

Mab, that's it, she returned, but was finally destroyed, Etrigan helped Brianna, my beloved daughter destroy Mab, ending our centuries long battle.

No...there is a new threat one for which I have been called, not only have I been released from Spellhold, but the person I was locked in with, Morgan is back with her new apprentices, and now allied to an enemy that is due back: Count Dracula.

The Belmonts entrusted me with their whip "the Vampire Killer" till one of them returned to claim it. Maybe that is why I've been released?

I hope to find the answers to it, but two more things plauge me, who is this woman I keep seeing in my visions?! something about electricity...or power over it. And the fear I will be asked to tap into powers that cost...

Which brings me to Spellhold, the prision with a time lock on it, I remember I locked Morgan and myself in it to prevent the ressurection of the vampire lord, but it seems that failed. The cult is back, and I've been tasked by the Court to step in and preserve the balance.

It is time though, I need to take on new apprentices, my last three are on their own adventures and are forbidden to help me in my task.

For now I will need to roam this house and see if I can remember...

The visions, hamper my ability to sleep or for that matter think clearly---blasted curse or blessing depending on who is asking...

I found the sword, the one I named for the girl, yes the girl...Excalibur.

Perhaps the truth should now be revealed...as to how that exactly happened, maybe it has something to do with the visions of this woman...

There was the great sword smith, Caliburn, who had a forge in the mountains of Cymru (Wales) he was given a gift by the goddess, and the dragon...the power to forge industructable weapons and armor, but this came with a curse, he was once a warrior with an unquenchable thirst for battles and the smell of blood in his nose.

Gawain, was tasked to train Arthur's warriors, I believe legend calls them knights now, and during one such training session Arthur's blade was broken by one of the lesser lords, Pellinore, Gawain knew Caliburn from battles past and instructed me how to find his forge.

I tasked the King's champion, Leontes, where this Lancelot story began I know not, but to set the record straight, there was no Lancelot. I do know that Arthur desired Leontes wife Gwenevere, yes the woman who would become queen. I told Arthur to forget her and focus on the task at hand, and I would return with a new sword.

I rode into the mountains of Cyrmu (Wales) as Gawain had instructed and came to man in his forge. There was no doubt he was a former warrior, for he had the manners of one, however his craft was quite stunning. After introducing myself he seemed to soften, though something seemed off. I should have known sooner, when he started questioning my powers...

Still to quell his interest I gave him a small look into what I could potentially do, simply by making his fire grow hotter and hotter, and larger and larger. It was then I saw that he had a daughter, and she'd seen me use my powers, Caliburn then got hostile, fearing for his daughter whose name was Excalibur.

I was invited to eat and rest, the sword wouldn't take but a day. The sword was one of the finest things I've ever seen created, however Caliburn decided he wanted to present it to the king himself...those that know that would have been dangerous had I allowed it, for he still had the unquenchable thirst for battle...I refused to allow it. His response was the sword stayed with him, and that I should take it if I dared.

At this point there was no way this would end in any other way but violence...though Caliburn made the mistake of thinking I was merely a Sorcerer and wouldn't fight back...I held off as long as humanly possible from using magic, in the end it came down to it...Caliburn was engulfed in his own flames from his forge, burned to a husk, and Excalibur saw it all...

The girl took the sword and rowed into the middle of a lake, promising to toss the blade into the water...needing the sword for the king, I froze the lake, but the girl fell out of the boat she was in and under the ice...she had managed to break a hole in the ice with the sword, which I have seen has become the classic image of the blade...I couldn't save her, the ice was too thick, and she drowned...

In her honor I named the sword Excalibur, I wouldn't find out till centuries later that with Caliburn's death, his debt to the goddess was repaid---and Excalibur took on a divine form...Vivienne the Lady of the Lake, priestess to Avalon...

In punishment from what I believed to be her death, I subjected my self to a beating at the hands of some local warriors---provoking them by insulting their manhood, and their punches, refusing to allow my injuries to heal for a time.

When I returned to Arthur, I told him the Lady of the Lake had granted me the sword Excalibur, for the king of Britons to wield. That version is the one most know today, very few know the truth...

Still I think it's time I return the blade to Avalon, it is no longer needed---there will never be another to wield it.

I've found her again, Circe, the chosen apprentice. I think she's forgotten me or probably tried her best to forget me...since my release from Spellhold, as I have managed to uncover, Lord Dracula has 16 days till he rises. I've seen no signs of the Belmont who will wield the 'Vampire Killer' whip.

I believe it is up to Circe and myself for now, she's going to have to learn fast, for we have little time. Morgan doesn't know about her, which gives us an advantage.

Still the visions haven't gone away, nor has the feeling of having been here before, it all is familiar but I cannot recall more than that.

Now if I can just figure out who the Belmont will be this will make my task that much easier...but then again who says anything is easy anymore...

Which reminds me...I need to visit Shanoa...I am sure she's not been disturbed and is still at her eternal rest. Brianna may want to pay her a visit when she comes home from school.

I must procure a place to train my new apprentice and hope that Morgan and her apprentices haven raised any dead wizards or sorcerers, lest we be in for a long hard bloody training session...

A week and still nothing comes back to me…these visions are starting to get on my nerves, and if it wasn’t for finding the sorceress Circe, I’d probably lose my so called mind. Speaking of Circe, she is the one of the prophecy…and I believe Morgan knows it. However in the event that I end up in Spellhold or something much worse happens, it’s probably best I do two things:

1. Dispel more of the Arthurian Legends
2. Explain the prophecy

I begin by simply saying I do not know how Morgan’s name was butchered in to what it is now, but her name is actually Morgana Le Faye; the “Le” portion being her actual middle name. And yes she was Arthur’s half sister; her mother died giving birth to her. As far as the conception of Arthur goes, that well…I did have my part in that though they are powers I swore I’d not use again.

Now I’ve heard this rumor that Arthur was a Romano-British leader, that’s a half truth, while indeed he did use Roman tactics, that’s all the Roman he had, he was quite Welsh.

This brings me to the famed sword in the stone. It was nothing more than propaganda cooked up by the high priestess of Avalon. Simply she had me place an ancient Celtic sword on top of a waterfall, and claim it was the sword of the Roman god Mars. The simple trick was pushing the blade before pulling it out of the rock. Arthur did this quite well.

I’ve already mentioned the Lady of the Lake and Excalibur in a previous entry. This brings me to Mordred, whoever came up the fool idea he and Arthur were father and son, or even related for that matter…is just that an idiot. There was no relation, it was as simple matter of one dragon trying to steal power from the other, and it ended with both of their deaths. I’ll explain more in another entry.

Now for this prophecy, as most know I am the god of magic, however I am still a druid, some have labeled me a wizard, others a sorcerer. They again are only half right. This prophecy states simply the gods and goddesses have chose one to have the same powers and mastery of sorcery that I, Brianna, and Morgan possess, however we didn’t know who, I was merely given a piece of jewelry and told to hold it until that person came. It chose Circe, and I know Morgan and her apprentices Sybil and Celia will seek to make her training with me a living hell…

Let us hope that Circe can see through the BS and help me keep these three at bay.

The visions have been solved! Though I cannot remember much else from before I entered Spellhold…the most important thing though is back…

Marlena that is who the visions were of, though I cannot remember much more than that before Spellhold. I remember that is what the Unseelie Court calls my “concubine”. I always felt that title was a little harsh, as this is the first woman since Shanoa that has brought me peace to an otherwise chaotic life. Never the less, it took well…drastic measures on her part to bring my memory of her back…still she’s the same old Marlena, though I imagine she’s pissed at me for going into Spellhold. Regardless, it kept her, Brianna and Circe safe. Well at the time I admit I didn’t know it Circe was going to be my apprentice, but in regards it kept her safe, cause if Morgan killed her it’d tip the scales in her favor.

Marlena will get the “mark of the dragon” similar to the ones I have---a symbol of union so to speak. Circe will also get a marking but hers is to symbolize being my apprentice and to establish her as the prime Sorceress of Avalon. Brianna was born with one of the four dragon symbols…so marking her is unnecessary.

Though I must admit, I cannot ask Circe or Marlena to put themselves on the line for this Lord Dracula battle, this must be my burden alone, though Marlena will probably stand at my side regardless---though I suspect she is still angry with me…in the mean time I am going to have to lean on Eira “Snow” interesting code name I must admit. Though her help in dealing with the abominations against nature and even the gods themselves the infamous Dr. Frankenstein has unleashed on the world should be invaluable. I only hope she is up to the task, it seems a daunting one to be sure. Whatever her reasons are to aid me, I do not wish to pry, only be grateful for her help in this.

I will also take this time to dispel yet some more myths of Arthur

Arthur himself as mentioned previously is not English or Roman, he was Welsh high king, in modern terms this simply translates to being king of several Celtic tribes in Wales, the most powerful one.

As for myself, I am what they called at the time a Pict, I was born north of the famous wall, my native people called me Lailoken, and the Welsh called me Myrddin Emrys or Myrddin Caledonius. Later that fool Geoffrey of Monmouth Latinized my name, to Merlin Ambriosus. I’ve made the tired point that I am not in fact a wizard, but a druid. Overall I was supposed to be the god of magic. I lived under the name of Lailoken after the battle of Camlann, as Christianity was pushing through the island at the time, I chose to live in the Scottish wilds, eventually the Unseelie Court decided I needed to preserve the balance as the last druid.
More of my own history I will not reveal…save to one person, but she has my memories.

No, what I am going to dispel this time is the battle of Camlann, in what became a struggle for power in Britain, there was another war leader named Mordred now where this rumor got started that he and Arthur were related I do not know, they were not related in any way. This was a case of the young lion wanting the older lion’s power. The gods had their play in this as well, some fearing change, others willing to accept it. Arthur wanted a Christian and Pagan kingdom under one banner, Mordred wanted to do away with the old ways and rush in the new Christian faith and eradicate the Pagan populous. The Vikings agreed to stay out of it, and the Saxons came in later to claim what is now England, the Vikings would take some areas to the south of the wall and Ireland. Camlann was brutal battle, and it ended with Arthur and Mordred dead on the field…and with it only two two Celtic kingdoms: Scotland and Wales. Ireland wouldn’t regain its Celtic identity until it’s conquest by the English, which expelled the Vikings.

Still the battle was costly and I was ordered to go into reclusion, even so far as to spread rumors of my death. Or even better…that Excalibur the Lady of the Lake, put me in an enchanted prison, it was more like an enchanted sleep for 100 years.

Sad memories aside, I am happy to have Marlena and my memories of her back, I promised her I’d never use the powers that cost, but in this mess with Lord Dracula…I may need to ask her if I can, to keep her and those I care about safe.

In closing I am going to answer a final question, one that has been posed to me before, what is this unable to interfere stuff about? It’s simple even we gods, demi gods, and the like have things we cannot step into, though I am only able to do such things at Marlena’s command now, The Unseelie Court of Avalon recognizes her as my “concubine” it is only she that can allow me to step into battles and such that normally I wouldn’t be able to.

Marlena must have read the note I left her…then again she might not have…she hasn’t kicked my ass yet either way though, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on who is looking at it...Still the circumstances of my so called disappearance have yet to be revealed. And it’s going to stay that way for the most part, unless Circe says something to Marlena

My apprentice is making progress, she needs only to believe in herself, which we are working on to some degree. Though Rayven must never know about that unfortunate incident in the rose garden…although I personally believe her rose garden is doomed to suffer by all residents of this place. I suppose it being destroyed is better than having it violated. Though I can’t say the same for the vegetable garden…that girl has got to learn control, but all things in time. Maybe I can replace that orchard before anyone notices.

Sybil and Celia have been testing not only my patience, but my powers as well, no matter how many times we clash they never learn, then again they only know certain forms of magic any way…still I know full well what they want me to do, and it’s not going to happen, they have no idea what they are messing with, they really don’t. Those powers could destroy them by merely looking at them.

David seems to be getting the pub the way he wants it, for $1.3 million, he damn well should. Though I am sure Marlena will be pissed when she finds out that we’re the financial backers of it all. I didn’t use our joint account, but I am supposed to let her know of all purchases over $500,000. But I know the pub’s in good hands, which is why I signed it all over to him, and gave him full permission to hire as much staff as he needs to he can teach his students.

Eira seems to be wary of me in a sense, much like she doesn’t know what I am going to do, but she’s been more than willing to help me, though I think my constant blocking my face when she tries to photograph me is starting to annoy her, that or my disappearing…though everyone seems to laugh when that blasted sugar bowl gets violent, that demonic tea set is a problem. Still she’s been a valuable ally when called upon, though she has some anger that drives her, especially against well enhanced humans and other experiments.

This Richter intrigues me, I’ve not seen one possessed as he’s been in some time, I believe the last time was during the War of the Ancients it involved the tome of Eternal Darkness…not a pretty picture that, but the tome has long been destroyed as have those ancients. Still he’s battling the anger and rage of the demon that possesses him, maybe one day he’ll overcome it.

So my apprentice/nephew has grown stronger, that's good, though I wish the boy would accept the fact he is a druid...maybe his consort Eira will get it through his head. Still, he needs some tweaks to his powers, meaning mostly he needs to learn to control that temper of his, most of his issue is that he simply let's it get in the way, though he keeps them in check, he allows them to control his powers, so in effect it is a large blast but not as strong.

This trip to Australia hasn't been dull that much has been clear, I knew we'd find Theokoles, and this "sand" demon, the one that wants Marlena and Eira though it's attention seems to be on the one that wields the Ice Queen's powers, but as known he wants their faces to obsorb their powers, something we won't allow now will we?

More interesting of note is Simon Morris he's been a great help in everything, but not too good on communications, hopefully he'll show up here soon, he mentioned something about looking into a vampire that was terrorizing Sydney so we may yet hear from him soon.

Though I've noticed something called a fire storm, and I only know one person capable of that sort of thing, the girl one Alicia Williams now could she be here as well? I am afraid I don't have that knowledge, I'm not even sure of her whereabouts...that's the problem with fire storms...one never does know their true location, but I have to admit it's nice to have the clan together, and hopefully Trinawill join us when school lets out for her...I never did ask them how she's taken to Eira as her mother...

Still Theokoles draws blood, and used a fire blast I'd only ever seen from Alicia I wonder how he managed that...that will pend further inquiry. For now we must focus on this "sand" demon...
