Ash hadnt been to this city in a while. But he had some reports of slaves that were a nice lot. So he made the journey. Upon arriving he had gone to their marketplace and found quite a few slaves that were of worth to him. He purchased the slaves and sent them to his training camp back home.
Now he was bored and had not much else to do. He walked to the local tavern. Not the most rundown place he had seen in his travels, but he had definitely seen a lot nicer than this one. Walking up to the bar, he took a seat. The bartender noticed him and walked over. "I'll take whatever your special is"
He was amazed at the special brews most of the places made usually based on supplies from around. It also gave him a unique way to remember each place. The bartender went back to the kegs and poured out a red liquid into a cup. "Tree sap is what we call this" Sliding the glass to Ash before turning back to his other customers.
Ash took a sip. It was very flavorful. He was also almost certain that it literally had tree sap in it. But they must have chosen a good tree because it tasted awfully good. Looking around the tavern was mostly empty, but a few people came in and out. Maybe he would find someone that was worth conversing with.

Treetop city, it wasn't often she made stops here, the last time Kasumi had been here was when a noble had wanted her to track down the man who stole his slaves to resell them. Now, though, she was not called there on business, but for the fact she had nothing else to do, and when an assassin had nothing to do, and it was inbetween jobs, many things could happen. Dangerous, and good, as it were she had stopped by the slave trader's, simply to keep an eye on the action there. Nothing truly interesting happened though, she was almost sad nothing happened, she'd have enjoyed killing a few senseless people, for sport. Though, really sneaking around and killing people before they realize she's there to kill them, is more her forte, and gave her more of a sense of satisfaction. But boredom gets to all people, even the most controlled assassins...
After no real action with the slave trader she meandered on over to the tavern, patting her hidden bladed fans, throwing knives, and finally her plainly in view Katana, just to make sure they were all still in place. If anything had been snatched from her, someone would have died a horribly painful death. That was a certainty.
When she entered she glanced around, long red hair swishing in it's ponytail, dark purple eyes curious, and dangerous. Immediately she sauntered up to the bar, and pulled one of her best slow, sly smiles for the bartender than came over as she sat down. "what'd you like miss?" He asked, the attractive red head, in her rather revealing dress, smirked "best thing you have" The man appeared to think, while definitely and noticably appraising Kasumi's appearance, then turned and filled a glass with that red liquid "it's our special...lemme know if i can get you anything else" She took the glass of the mysterious liquid and nodded as the bartender walked away, the look she gave the drink was one of slight curiosity. Wondering whether to actually drink it or not she ran a finger around the rim of the glass and glanced around at the few people there in the tavern.

Ash sat there drinking waiting for something to catch his attention. One hand on his glass, the other, idle on his leg. No one in here was interesting. Whenever he heard someone enter the tavern, he looked back to check them out. Eventually a girl walked in with bright red hair, he had to double-take.
Wow, now this was a looker if nothing else. He continued his drink not wanting to be too forward. He saw where she had gone to sit at least and planned to follow momentarily. He watched the bartender leave then bring her back the same thing he had.
He kept glancing over to her waiting for a moment to approach. As she got her drink, she looked at it. Not a disgusted look, but a very questioning look. He took his chance.
He walked over to where she was sitting. "I just had one of those myself, it's actually quite good. I was thinking of getting another of the same He was, and he was also hoping that she would take his advice and also offer to let him stay. He watched her eyeing her up and down to take her in and see what she would think.

Her purple gaze lifted to the man's face as he walked over, she searched his gaze the way any trained assassin would, determining whether or not he was safe enough to converse with. "oh? So then, if I drink it, I wont be ill?" A small smile pulled at her lips, and she decided to be wary of him, but not overly so, he appeared fine enough. Wasn't too sore to look at either, if she were to think like that, but she couldn't... couldn't. That one night, the memory flashed before her eyes in a millisecond, and it was enough to have her fingers twitch slightly to gain control of her inner fire. She was dangerous as a poison tipped arrow shot up into the air for arrow roulette, no one knew when or where it would come down, and no one knew when or where she would snap. It could happen, anywhere, at any time, and she strived to make sure it didn't happen.
Before lifting the glass to her lips she licked her lips, mentally went over how much money she had in her pouch. She was feeling more...generous and people-ish today, perhaps a normal conversation would help her keep from snapping. "have a seat" With a shoe-less foot she nudged out a seat for him, the beautiful swirling design of flowers and some rather, tear drop resembling shapes with designs in and around them looking very dark on her pale skin, and some how, elegant too. Then she gestured with a graceful, delicate looking tattooed hand to the seat. "next one's on me... A slow smile tugged at her lips, and she finally took a sip of the red drink, savoring it's unique taste, then nodding approvingly. Chin length red bangs escaping the pony tail and swinging down to frame her gentle face, with it's wide purple eyes, heart shaped lips, fine high cheek bones, and long dark eyelashes.

As his gaze crossed her body, he noted her eyes doing the same. In response to her query, "No, at least I haven't gotten sick from it yet." he laughed a small courteous laugh. He at least stopped his gaze to focus on her eyes. The shade of purple intrigued him. Eyes like that he had never seen before. They intrigued him. She offered him a seat and he took it happily.
Sitting, she offered his next drink on her. That was surprising for a lady in these times. Letting it slide, "Well, that's an attractive offer, a pretty lady and a drink on the side." He watched her take a sip of her drink, then as she took it in and analyzed. "See, interesting, but not dangerous." This time he laughed a little more robustly.

open man, his words and gaze, i could easily unsheath a blade and bury it in him...as he doesnt see me very threatening These analyzing, critical thoughts traipsed through her head, it was a natural habit, and it was true he didn't seem to think her dangerous. Of course she may not look quite threatening, even with the katana strapped to her back, she didn't look like someone who could hurt a fly. Though she could kill with a fiery passion that put all beliefs of hell to shame, and only hope that actual fire didn't appear.
She took another sip of her drink, and tried to tell her head to stop being so calculating, she knew where every exit of the room was, knew where every person was standing and at what angles she would need to take to kill them all. Knew how much speed and what sort of moves it would take to get a blade free and kill them all in less than a moment's notice. All of this, by habit, by simply paying attention to her surroundings.
He was saying something, and she looked up from her drink, a smirk on her lips before she could hold it back. "oh? so open with your opinions on how a woman looks? honesty is a good thing to have...sometimes" The glass came to her lips once more and she drank, finding that she enjoyed the unique taste more and more as she drank it. But also found herself wondering how much alcohol was in it, she couldn't risk getting drunk...not in a place with so many people.

Something was odd with this woman. He couldnt see it but he sensed it. He brushed off the feeling assured of his abilities if something happened. She looked like she was at least some type of killer, but wasnt sure what kind. He could see the couple of bulges where weapons were hidden on her. (ooc; cant remember if she actually has any of them showing or not right now and I'm too lazy to look. xP)
Barmaid came over with a new one for him and he raised it to hers "To you, the prettiest woman here and first to buy me a drink in a while" As he sipped he continued to think of a response to what she had said a few moments before. Finally coming up with an answer, "Well yes, I find being honest a good thing. Though people who I know are already shady I dont bother. You dont look shady so I figured I should be honest to you" He took another drag off his mug, he was really starting to like the flavour.

she smirked as he spoke, tilted her glass back to empty it before she responded, "what makes a person shady?" It was just one of those idle questions, it had a tone of not really caring about the answer but wanting to know at the same time. This tone came to her naturally, where a normal person's voice would crack, her's was smooth as silk. Where another person was on the verge of tears, voice in a whine, her's was soft and carefully neutral. If she was in pain, you could tell by the way she talked that you wouldn't know it from her voice. "surely someone's bought you a drink recently" Setting her glass down, she told herself she could have two more at most, if she drank more it was impossible to tell what would happen. It wasn't exactly like she had built up a resistance to alcohol as some other people, people who drank more and more often, had. No the fact she was drinking alcohol right this moment was a rare occasion, she just felt like she needed a drink, and whatever it was she was drinking was good.
Another glass of the stuff was set down in front of her and she looked up to take note of who had given it to her, before lifting the glass and sipping slowly. Dark purple gaze on him once more, she could already feel her skin heating up slightly, as warmth from the drink spread through her system. Yes, she had to be very careful of how much she drank...very.. very careful.

He finished off the drink that he had and decided to let the drinks settle for a while. He responded to her statements. "It's just a look. One I've become adept at reading. And you dont have that look. And no not many women buy people drinks, so I haven't been bought a drink in a long while." He usually was the one buying drinks so it was kind of odd that a woman had bought him a drink. But he knew it would impolite to refuse.
"So what brings you to these parts? Work, family? Looking for a littel fun maybe?" He added the last part playfully knowing that it was way too soon to be pressing any advances. He eyed her over carefully. She was hiding something, but what?

She smirked and played at the lip of the glass she held "flattered that you've labeled me as not a shady person, and i am a woman that doesnt believe in gender roles, just what kind of people i share my money with..." Her finger paused on the rim of the glass and her deep purple eyes locked on his. "I myself am simply here in between jobs, taking a short break if you will, trying to enjoy myself a bit..." Noting she probably shouldnt have mentioned work, it tended to make people curious about what you did for a living. Honestly she'd prefer not to share what she did, there were a few angered people whod like to kill her, but she would tell if one was curious enough.
"what about you? what brings you here?" The purple in her eyes seemed to brighten slightly and glint. "As I said before...i like to know who i share my money with..." Her lips tilted in a small, rather enticing, smile.

He grinned back at her comment, implying that he was one that it was a good idea to be sharing her money with. If only she knew. But only time would tell what happened between the two of them. "i do not play to gender roles either, other than that chivalry is a very strong motivation in the way that I live my life. Otherwise I see no problem with a lady doing what most say only a man can do. And being between jobs is not a bad thing, gives you a chance to enjoy the finer things in life without worry of your work." He paused realizing he was speaking really quickly. And still knowing that she was hiding something and decided that he shouldn't give away too much about himself so soon.
As a waiter walked by, he asked for another drink, giving himself a second to think, then continued. "I... am here on business." he said scolding himself internally for the hesitation while he spoke. "Doing some work for a small family around these parts."
The waiter walked by again and he took his new drink, just a regular ale. He liked the "Tree Sap" but after a couple it got a little old. He eyed her up and down once again, knowing there was something, yet not being able to place his finger on it. "So, do you have any plans tonight? I enjoy our conversation and prefer it continue past this establishment" he asked. He was getting better at realizing you actually had to ask these things and not just assume you were going to get to continue your conversation with such a fine lady.

She nodded as he spoke, sipping at her red drink rather contentedly and watching him carefully. It seemed men thought they were the only people who could do anything, it was actually quite funny, being that she could kill most men before they had time to blink. His slight pause between his words had her gaze sharpening, it didnt go unnoticed and she wondered at why exactly he was here. Though she didn't voice her question, not yet anyway, it wasnt the right time to go on asking questions about people.
Something like bemusement glittered in those purple eyes as he requested her to accompany him past the residence. The glass in her slim hand tilted back and she emptied that one as well, setting it on the bar as she put on a face of indecision. "well...no I dont suppose I do. What do you propose we do outside of this establishment?" Treetop City wasnt known for its beauty and kind people exactly, what was there to do other than kill, avoid being killed, and drink?
