((OOC: It’s alright, I’ve been completely busy the past few days anyway!))

Unechtermann put the coat on, taking care not to snag it on any part of himself. He buttoned it up, pulled the hat down on his head, and followed Mia out on the street. He left the bottle shards were they lay.

It was a warm day, and the thick veil of dark sullen clouds from yesterday’s sky was nowhere in evidence. Instead, the sun shone down brightly, and warmed the cool material of his body. It went without saying that people would stare even more than usual, with him wearing his huge coat all buttoned up and his hat pulled down low in this kind of weather, but he didn’t mind – as long as they didn’t realize what they were looking at.

Speaking of his clothes, he couldn’t help noticing how they smelled much cleaner now than when he’d parted with them yesterday – floral, in fact. He didn’t mind. Walking ahead of him with quick strides was Mia, speaking quickly about the various jobs she thought might fit him. He listened patiently, as he matched the speed of her steps with his own long strides.

“Oh by the way, I'll be hiring you for a while too. As my bodyguard.” That caught him off guard. He should’ve expected it, he supposed, but conversations with Mia were proving to be both one-sided and intense. Suddenly, straight out of left field, he was employed. As Mia spoke, Unechtermann understood that she was afraid. She was the energetic, confident type that would never admit to it in so many words, he knew, but she was frightened, and well she may be. He felt a little uncomfortable himself.

“Yes, you’re right,” he spoke thoughtfully when he could get a word in edgewise. “And as you need protection, so do I. That man won’t forget me in the first place, I’d wager, and he might decide to come for me too. Strength in numbers, you see.” He paused, but continued quite quickly before Mia decided to speak her thoughts again: “I don’t think you’re a helpless girl, besides. You handled yourself admirably in yesterday’s martial situation.”

''You think so? Thanks! Well, my kind has great reflexes, but I guess MMA classes were useful! Good to know; they were expensive! Well, anyway, unless that guy has a lot more vampire friends, I don't think he'll stand a chance against you. But if he's stupid, yeah, he might just come for you too. In which case, I'd be glad to help you out. I'm sure we'd make a deadly team. Just like Marvel superheroes. Erm, I mean...'' Great, my geeky side is showing. Oh well, back to serious matters...''So yeah, just until I leave. It's probably a bother to you, but I'll make it worth your while. Now...''

Across the street they were on was a construction site. It seemed there would soon be a shopping centre there. The workers were gathered around a crane; it was malfunctioning. Mia smirked devilishly. I've got something better than a crane here. ''Karl, how do feel about heavy lifting? Or rather, so we don't waste our time searching for a job you won't like, what do you like to do? What are you good at? Right now, all I've seen is your brute strength but I doubt that's all there is to it. You seem pretty crafty too, from that glass butterfly you made earlier, but that's about all I know.''

It was hard to play caretaker in a city she didn't know that well. She needed more to go on, at least. ''Like, see that construction site over there? I could easily walk up to those guys and tell them to hire you to replace that broken crane. Sure they'd be surprised and all and at first they won't take us seriously. But after a demonstration, they'll be dying to hire you! Thing is, do you really want to work as a makeshift crane?''

Suddenly, her sharp eyes caught on to something near the site and she froze. There he was. Leaning on a police cruiser, wearing a police uniform. And that's when he locked eyes with her. It was like a bucket of cold water had just been dropped on her head. Frantically, she reached for Karl's wrist, tapping it a few times, and said: ''Let's move.'' She didn't allow herself to stop until they were fairly ten blocks away. She glanced around worriedly, until she was sure he didn't follow them. But he saw me, I'm sure of that, and he recognized me. ''I saw him'', she said, ''the vampire. He's...a cop. That's just great. I brawled with a cop. He could just throw me in the slammer next time he saw me; say I assaulted him. Is this place corrupted or what?! You people have a bloodsucker as your civil servant, you know?!'' She took a deep breath. She hadn't been yelling that loud, but still a few people glanced at her weirdly before walking away. She glared at them before returning to her own thoughts. At least he saw Karl was still with me, maybe he'll take the hint...I just hope he doesn't have a whole pack with him, or whatever they call it. ''Ok, so...where were we?''

((OOC: I thought it'd be interesting if I made him go back in the picture. xP You still didn't write the advertisement, I had to come up with something and this is what happens when it's up to my lousy imagination! Oh and, there are more vampires in the force, the way I see it. ))
