The train came to a grinding halt, the steam roiled from off the tracks as the conductor made his rounds announcing the departure at the station. Nathaniel stepped from the train's runner board between train cabs and placed both feet firmly on the ground. Eyes darted from one location to another as he muttered to himself in seconds and minutes instead of lengths of measurement. Time, after all, was a much better form of measurement in his opinion.

Fiddling with the fine gold chain looped into his vest pocket the young Brit took his first tenuous step towards the station, pausing to look through the window at the large looming clock positioned where all can see it on the floor. It read 2:30 in the afternoon. Frowning Nathaniel tugged at his watch chain and produced his own watch, it had stopped... A whopping five minutes a head of time... 2:35... Great... I had a feeling something like this was going to happen.

You see, Nathaniel's train was already sitting at the station for five minutes before he slipped backwards in time. It looped itself backwards and repeated the few minutes prior to him stopping. But all that didn't matter now you see, Nathaniel has learned to repeat his previous actions so nothing would mess up in time. Apparently him stopping to check his watch never changes the future or the past.

Clicking the faceplate shut the Brit stepped into the station and purchased a paper and placed himself on a bench position halfway between the doors, one leading out to the busy streets of London, the other leading out to the train's tracks. Nothing important in the headlines thus far, as he skimmed the paper from front to back, top to bottom.

Well, Prime Minister Chamberlain is throwing his favoured form of policy around again. Bloody hell. He paused, looking up at the clock, ah. Yes. Finally, 2:35pm. He looked at his watch and noticed it to was clicking the seconds away once again. In perfect time with the train station's clock.

Lida stepped out onto the platform, looking around really nervously. Strange things had been happening to her lately and she was really worried that she was in some kind of trouble. The most recent thing that happened was on the train. She'd dozed off and had accidentally missed her stop because she'd been asleep. When she woke up she realized this then suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the train was pulling into the station that had her stop.

This frightened her as something like this hadn't happened to her before. She glanced at her watch and notice that, not only had it stopped, but it had stopped five minutes after the time the clock on the platform read. "That's really weird," she said. "That can't be right... It's gotta be 2:35... And why did my watch stop?" She looked around, slightly panicked. It was then she noticed the man with the watch that read the same time as her own.

"Excuse me, sir," she said trying to get to him. It was at that moment that the crowd started to push her toward the train. She fought her way through it and finally got to him. "Excuse me but I noticed your watch had stopped five minutes ahead like mine did... Do you know why?"

Nathaniel looked up shocked. She noticed? With a glance at her face he realized that she did notice the time shift. He quickly covered his look of shock before it became too obvious and folded his paper up neatly and placed it on his lap. "My watch? Oh this silly thing?" He tugged at the watch chain and glanced about.

"It is always the wrong time, after all it is a spring based watch with a few cogs and such in it." Pulling the watch completely from his pocket and flicked up the faceplate and glanced down at the time, "See, all I do is adjust the time to match the clock there." He pointed first at the pin sticking out by the watch's face and then pointed to the station's clock.

"Beyond that, I can't explain why your timepiece has been acting up."

He gulped softly and glanced around more. Soon his anxiety was ratched way up there and he started muttering distances in terms of time.

What am I going to do? What am I going to do?

Lida glanced down at her watch and blinked several times. "It... It's working again," she said. "That's really strange... On the train I had fallen asleep and missed my stop... Err... This stop... Then I looked around and we were pulling into the station once again... That was really weird... I don't understand..." She shrugged and sighed. "Oh well... I might as well get going then..."

With that she walked off, not knowing that she had just been jumped through time as an unfortunate neko being dragged along by the magic of the time jumper she had just spoken to.

"Wait." he called to the girl, half standing from his bench before calmly standing up the rest of the way and stepping towards her, "I can explain, but not here. Okay?" He gulped and pushed and held the door open for her, "After you."

Once she was through he stepped through the doorway and led the way to a small church that was empty. "Please, inside, we can speak in here. It's quiet."

He nodded towards the door that he was pushing inwardly and waiting on her to slip through before he followed once again.

Once they were both in and the door was shut he motioned for a seat in a back pew and once more waiting for her.

Lida paused when she heard him calling after her. She turned and looked at him, listening to what he told her. "Okay," she said with a nod and followed him, slipping through the door then into the church when he held the door for her.

"Thank you," she said when she sat down. "So, what's going on? What did you want to tell me?"

Okay... Here it goes.

Sighing he removed his hat and look at the girl. "About what you experienced on the train."

Looking forward he exhaled sharply and then spoke, "Time didn't just jump. It rewinded itself. Time does things to reset itself and I haven't noticed anyone before seeing the results."

Shaking his head, "No, sorry that's a lie. The truth is..." Looking at the altar at the front Nathaniel frowned, "The truth is... Time jumped because it messed up the first time around. Most people don't realize it, hell at one point I didn't realize it." He laughed and ran his hand over his face, "It started with this watch." Holding up his watch by the chain.

"This bloody watch..."

What if I am really controlling time?

"Time has been flucuating around me uncontrollably, like alterations that it must fix in order to be correct for the world to continue. Or at least, that's what I theorized."

Nathaniel nodded, "Yeah.... Time is correcting Fate..."

It was obvious though that Nathaniel definately didn't feel confortable with his choice of words...

Lida blinked and tilted her head. "So, what does that mean for me," she asked him curiously. "How did I get brought with you when you jumped?" She was so confused and she didn't understand fully.

"That...I can't answer." He frowned as he looked at her, "Your ears are fake, I can see the plastic and stitching. You obviously aren't a human, so I can only assume that maybe whatever you are is more likely the only clue we have to why you managed to see the jump... Or at least feel it."

Nathaniel shook his head and laughed a little, "Here I am talking about how Time can correct itself and you must think I am crazy!"

He stopped laughing and shook his head softly, "You must think I am bonkers indeed." he coughed lightly to hide his anxiety before his eyes darted around the church's interior.

"Three minutes and twelves seconds to the altar. Fifteen minutes to the cross. Thirty seconds to the door behind us. Half a second to the next pew." Granted he was whispering, the words were audible, no noise was there to mute his whispering.

He looked back at the neko, "Time... It flucuates at times even when it isn't correcting things. Just to prove that its here. To me it seems that time is the unnoticed force in things and it tries to show itself, hence the corrections... I think that is what people are feeling when they have Deja Vu."

Lida blinked when he mentioned that her ears were fake. "Is it that noticeable," she asked, covering the fake ears. "They tried to design it so that it wouldn't be noticeable... Anyway yes you're right I'm not human... I'm what's known as a Neko. We're part human, part cat people. We have the ears, tail and claws, of a cat but the rest of our bodies are just like a human's."

It was then that she remembered one of the consequences of being one of her kind. "Oh my gosh I completely forgot! Being a Neko I'm more susceptible to magic! That's probably what happened! I was sort of dragged back in time with you!"

Pryce chuckled and smiled, "The ears normally go under the band, not right against it." Shrugging he looked closely, for once his eyes didn't dart away.

"Your species may have an influence on why you noticed the time shift, but that doesn't explain how you managed to pin me out of a crowd of people. As far as I saw, I did nothing abnormal."

He frowned and checked his watch again, watching the second hand tick away slowly.

Lida giggled and looked at him with a "really" look. "I saw your watch had stopped when you pulled it out," she said, smiling. "I have a very good perception so I tend to notice things more than other people. For instance, the priest here likes to burn white sage. I can smell it in the air. Also the Church of England must really donate a lot to this particular parish due to all the gold here..."

The church had the smell of burnt sage in it but it had a calming effect. There was also gold embroidered into the walls and pillars as if they were paid fairly well.
